About Healthy Families
Healthy Families Florida is preventing child abuse, not intervening after it has occurred.
Healthy Families is a nationally accredited, voluntary, parent support and coaching program for expectant parents and parents of newborns experiencing stressful life situations that could interfere with their abilities to be good, nurturing parents.
Staff begins work with parents either in the prenatal stages or shortly after birth, in targeted areas that have the highest incidences of trauma and child maltreatment. We begin early in a child's life because research has shown the early years, birth to age 5 years, are both the most critical and the most vulnerable time in any child's physical and emotional development.
By teaching parents about child development, age appropriate activities and appropriate discipline techniques, our family support workers help break generational cycles of child abuse.
Parent Support and Coaching Services Include:
- Cultivating and strengthening nurturing parent-child relationships in a healthy, safe home
- Providing education about the importance of child health, immunizations and well-baby checkups
- Conducting developmental screenings to find any delays and promote healthy childhood growth and development
- Promoting self-sufficiency by setting and achieving goals with parents - furthering their education and acquiring stable employment
Healthy Families Florida services are offered to all persons determined eligible (according to HFF Policy 1-02) regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or disability. For persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, Healthy Families Palm Beach will provide, at no cost, appropriate auxiliary aids to afford the participant or companion an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from services.
