Healthy Families

Healthy Families Florida is preventing child abuse and neglect before it starts.  Our staff visits homes in targeted neighborhoods that have been known for higher incidences of child abuse/neglect and maltreatment.

Our staff members begin their work with parents from as early as prenatal stages.  We help parents of newborns understand the importance of doctor's visits, proper nutrition and preparing their home for the baby's arrival.  Our focus is educating the parent on every aspect of parenting.

Healthy Families Florida services are offered to all persons determined eligible for services (according to HFF Policy 1-02) regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or disability.  For persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, Healthy Families Palm Beach will provide, at no cost to the participant or companion, appropriate auxiliary aids to afford the participant or companion an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from services.  Auxiliary aids will be available in each phase of the service delivery process (e.g., assessment, parent group meetings, home visits, etc.).

Services Include:

  • Modeling positive parent-child interaction to enhance their child’s development
  • Providing education on child health and development and the importance of immunizations and well-baby check-ups
  • Conducting child screenings for developmental delays
  • Promoting self-sufficiency by setting and achieving goals, furthering their education and acquiring stable employment
  • Services are initiated during pregnancy or shortly after the birth of a child
  • Services are provided for up to five years, with intensity and duration based on the needs of the family

By teaching parents about child development, age appropriate activities and appropriate discipline techniques, our staff members help break generational cycles of child abuse.
